Savvy Psychology Major
I read an article on how to be an "Savvy Psychology Major". It talks about what to expect and prepare for my future studies as a Psychology student, but that's not what I want to share with you guys. Actually that article talked about the basic requirements for surviving through college and going further ahead to accomplish our occupational goals.
To put it across briefly, it compared the people of today with the past. People today are more ambitious into getting into a college compared to last time, but I believe its probably due to the fact that its more or less a basic working prerequisite now. It said that there were 2 groups for students in college, namely those possessing aligned ambitions and those not. What does these names stand for? Possessors of aligned ambition just means that they are in a course or learning environment that will help them achieve their ambitions, whereas those of the latter doesn't.
Be largely aware that most of us belong to the latter category, or worse, in which we don't even have an ambition. Well, the article ended off with 3 steps to make ourselves 'clueful' in our college lives.
1.Begin the process of serious self-examination to determine your skills, characteristics, goals, and values.
2. Discover who you would like to become and create a plan of action to reach your aspirations that fits your own unique set of skills, characteristics, goals, values, and resources.
3. Putting your plans into action.
I believe this article doesn't only apply to me alone. I know it may sound like big words and idealistic, but somehow I believe there isn't no logic behind it.
And the fight over sovereignty of Pedra Branca rages on till today. The first time I heard about it was from Ms Chiew, when we were discussing about International conflicts during GP lessons.
For those who don't know, Pedra Branca is a small off-shore island somewhere east of Singapore, it houses a lighthouse built by the British a long time ago, and is about the size of a football field. Both Singapore and Malaysia are now claiming ownership over that island with a lawsuit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Its sea water is one of which 900+ ships pass by daily, hence the strategic importance.
Well, even though they say they hope this won't hurt ties between the 2 neighbouring nations, but it still too early to say. The fight in court seemed pretty serious. Haha.
I shouldn't try it again.
