End of first week in UW

I am at Denver International Airport now! Haha. Some of you might be wondering why. I am on my way to visit Carmen at Miami! Woohoo. Hot and warm weather for a change! Haha. But I have to stick around at the airport for 12 hours. Haha. Oh wells. Good things come with a price. =) Anyway, here's the end of another week, so here I am updating the fun, joy & laughter from Laramie, Wyoming.

Anyway, last Sunday we went for a church meeting at one of our International Coordinators' house. Well, I am not a big fan of such stuff, but I just tagged along. I can't remember what we read, so pardon me for not explaining what was discussed.

To me, the highlight wasn't the things that they discussed in the bible, but these cute adorable ANG MOH kids that were in the house. They are like totally adorable. I just feel like cuddling them all the time, but I didn't, if not I would appear like a dirty old man. Haha.

Everyone wants a piece of them.

After that, we were cordially invited to lunch. Haha. The lunch was awesome and they were just friendly and welcoming that we were feeling bad for imposing on them. Haha. As usual, somebody has to do some work for the host. =)

That's us.

After lunch came the most exciting part, snow sliding! Our coordinator was kind enough to drive us to the snow sliding location and lent us all 3 of his slides! Haha. It was a hell lot of fun. Although I haven't been to Snow City, but I bet it's nothing like what we have experienced. On top of that, the scenery was simply too beautiful for words to describe.

That terrorist-looking like person is me. Haha. I had to do that thanks to the snow that keeps coming at my face when I slide down.

It was really fun. But all good things come with cons. Trust me, the hike up that same hill you slided down can kill, especially in sub-zero conditions. You will be panting like a dog before you even know you are one. We are really thankful to the couple who stayed with us throughout the activity and even dropped us off down-town after that. Americans are really friendly and hospitable here in Laramie.

We headed for a cafe to warm ourselves up. I ordered some Mint Chocolate tea (they have exotic flavours here) just to try it, and it turned out fantastic. I loved tea all the while, and that gave me a reason to love tea even more. Haha. I contemplated buying the tea leaves, but dropped the thought as I don't think I will be brewing them back home.

We hanged out for a while playing Scrabble. Obviously I couldn't win when they twitched the rules. They removed all the Hokkien words from the game. How am I supposed to win?

And guess what I found? A M&Ms vending machine! Haha. Cool right?

That basically sums up the whole of our Sunday. =)

School started on Monday. I am still in the midst of remembering where my classes were and fitting into the classroom culture. The students here will fight to speak in class! Haha. In comparison to our classes back in Singapore, everyone just tries to hide from the view of the lecturer. Haha. Anyway, whoever told me to try Panda Express ought to be shot. Haha. It tastes nothing like Oriental food or Chinese rice. I am surprised that the Americans actually love it. I should convince them to go Singapore to try all these food. I ordered Orange chicken (whatever is that) and the taste was so strong that it kind of burned my tongue a little. They need more spice management.

And since basketball is such a big thing in the United States, we decided to attend one of University of Wyoming's basketball game. Apparently, it's the state championship qualifiers and half the town went to support the team. Haha. It's really cool to see enthusiastic elderly and their kids coming here and cheer for the team. The cowgirls (that's what they are called in Laramie, and Cowboys for guys respectively) played quite well though, even though they almost lost the lead for once.

And here's our mascot. He's called Pistol Pete. Haha. He came close to us during the game, but we missed the chance to take photo with him.

I think I blabbered long enough. Here's some ang moh eye candies for the guys out there.

They are head Cheerleaders back at their high school. One of them is Nurul's roommate. Haha. Don't mind my expression, I was drunk. =)

Okay, hopefully I will have time to update you guys about this weekend's Miami trip!
