Zouk

I went Zouk last night, courtesy of Alex, Weiyen, Alvyn and Shane. It was so packed that we almost couldn't get in. Nonetheless, we got inside the place. I don't do this often though, but experiencing it once in a while is fine I guess. To top if off, I got free drinks! And I finished one jug of Whisky too. Crazy man.

Its been 3 years since the Tsunami incident at Indonesia, that killed many and destroyed homes. I was watching the news yesterday and the repair works are currently up to 80%. I guess physical compensation is incomparable to the emotional wreckage that has deeply scarred those people. And I heard that they are building the settlement further away from the sea, but this is posing some problems for fishermans who live their lives at the shore.

Due to the torrential rain, there has been landslides at Java Island, Indonesia. There seemed to be endless disasters nowadays. Maybe the Mother Nature is grumpy about things that we do. Haha. And all of us should be appreciative that no major natural disasters happen to us Singapore, mainly thanks to our neighbouring countries.

Taxi fares are adjusted higher and more people are complaining. Seriously I don't quite understand the rational behind it also. But sooner or later, Singaporeans will just get used to it and forget about things. Haha. I think we Singaporeans belong to the easier-to-con-people. Or rather the 'suck thumb' mentality has been instilled deeply in our hidden mindset that some of us often just accept life as it is. Not particularly to such complains, but also certain issues in life. Oh ya, I've heard that electricity bills are rising too, by first quarter next year.

With inflation an annual issue, I seriously wonder if I will earn enough money to get in the future. It a scary thought when you realised that your parents are old enough to retire while you haven't even finished schooling.

Anyway, posted below is one nice video to share. Here's the story:

The lady in her 30s was a dancer and was trained as one since she was a little girl. Later she got into some kind of accident and lost her entire left arm. She was depressed for a few years. It seemed that someone asked her to coach a Children's dancing group. From that point on, she realized she could not forget dancing. She still loved to dance and wanted to dance again. So she started to do some of her old routines.

But by her losing an arm, she also lost her balance. It took a while before she could even making simple turns and spins without falling. Eventually she got it. Then she heard some guy in his 20s had lost a leg in an accident. This guy also fell into the usual denial, depression and anger type of emotional roller coaster.

She looked him up and persuaded him to dance with her. He had never danced. And to dance with one leg? No way. But she didn't give up and he reluctantly agreed. She started to teach him dancing 101. The two broke up a few times because the guy had no concept of using muscle, control his body, and a few other basic things about dancing. They hired a choreographer to design routines for them. She would fly high (held by him) with a sleeve for an arm flying in the air. He can bend horizontally supported by one leg and she leaning on him, etc. They danced beautifully and they legitimately beat others in the competition.

Here's it.

This just show how far the human spirit can bring us. They deserved a standing ovation for this.
